3. Horror movies: Task three -Dicuss
The convention of the movie Psycho was effective because it scared me, the convention of the movie Scream is the same as Psycho.
Psycho was a low-budget film but i recon most low-budget film make the best movies and they have this edge of scaring you more. Scream had become the highest-grossing slasher in the US in unadjusted dollars by earning itself $173 million worldwide.
How does the director's use of the convention reflect current events of the time?
This convention hadn't changed that much from Psycho being one of the first horror movies with the knife as a weapon to Halloween using that as a weapon and Scream the knife hadn't change and those were the three movies we talked and discussed very close about.
It kind of scared you a little maybe you shouldn't sleep before marriage and steal money then go stay in a motel in the middle of nowhere or have sex, talk about having sex, drink or do drugs or you will die! so that kind of scared the young teenagers and made them look and decide not to do what they are doing or be more careful
Good effort: some good description of the conventions and some interesting points, but your argument is not very clear. Aim to use more specific examples from the film of the convention (think about techniques used to show the convention, how it is similar and different in each) and don't forget to state the directors' names and the dates. Good attempt to include some quotes from the readings that we have done, but make sure that you get the description of the convention absolutely solid.
